Ah well. I did ask if anyone was taking bets on that.
Spring Break is officially over. Boo. I had a pretty good break, though a couple days were kind of mopey having little to do. I’m a fickle girl. Don’t know what I want until I don’t have it anymore. Bah.
But look what Joe did:
He read the entire 1200 some-odd pages of Stephen King’s The Stand. In four days. That kind of dedication doesn’t come out of me unless it’s Harry Potter related (Number 7 = 3 days of reading). But nonetheless, I am impressed. I mean, look at it. It’s huge!
As for Magnolia, I did finish both fronts AND 3/4 of the first sleeve! It knit up pretty quickly, but not as quickly as I hoped. But there was a slight setback. Remember at the beginning of break when I went rummaging through my (tiny) stash and found the remains of a One Pound Caron (acrylic, I know, I know) ball of yarn? I picked it up thinking Ah a sweater! This will make me a whole sweater!…. Well it made me the back and the front 1/3 of a sweater. I had to go to the yarn store to buy more. And you know what I forgot when I went to said yarn store?……. The buttons! I, unlike many knitters and crafters I know, do not have a button box. Though I wish I did have one. I love buttons. I’m taking this as an opportunity to browse some really unique buttons online – I would have settled for something in the yarn store that I may or may not have liked entirely.
And in the midst of all this, I am a little bit shocked with myself. I’ve always prided myself on being one of those knitters who has ONE project on the needles at a time. I’m sometimes appalled to hear about sweaters/cardigans/scarves/afghans/etc that have been sitting at the bottom of some knitting basket for months….. Well, I’m about to confess a terrible secret I’ve been keeping. – – I have FOUR projects on the needles right now! — And one of them hasn’t been touched in two months! Sob. I’ve become a fickle knitter!
The two projects on the back burner ARE my own designs though… so I can’t show them to you because I want to submit them to Knitty someday…. if I ever finish them. Then there’s Magnolia, and then there’s another of my designs which I started last night. I’ll totally share that one with you:
It’s going to be a knitted one of these for my husband’s birthday (which is tomorrow. Bad wife.) I procrastinated, er I mean, forgot about the present Joe asked me for months ago… He reminded me in the middle of break, coyly asking where it was – I think he was hoping that I had been secretly working on it in the middle of the night for weeks and was hiding it somewhere so he wouldn’t find it, then working on other projects during the day to throw him off… why didn’t I think of that? I’ll make up for it with German Chocolate Cupcakes and Stroganoff :) And knitting my little fingers off to finish the cube asap :)
